IQFeed Troubleshooting - Windows Defender
Overview
If the connection to IQFeed via Optuma is slow, unstable or delayed, it is possible the issue is being caused by Windows Defender.
Solution
You can setup Windows Defender to allow Optuma and IQFeed connections through the firewall without hindrance.
Process
- Close Optuma and IQFeed
- Click on the Windows Start button and search for Windows Defender, open the option that is found.

In the window that is displayed left click the Advanced Settings option.

In the window that displays, click the Inbound Rules folder, the click New Rule…

In the window that displays, select Program and click Next.

Click the Browse button and navigate to the Optuma program folder. By default this will be:
C:\Program Files\Optuma\Optuma.exe
Click Next

Click Allow the Connection then click Next

Make sure all 3 options are ticked (Domain, Private, Public), and click Next

Type in a name (Optuma for example) and click Finish.

Repeat Steps 4 - 9 for the following folder path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\DTN\IQFeed\iqconnect.exe

Click on the Outbound Rules folder, then click New Rule.

Repeat Steps 4 - 9 for the following folder paths:
C:\Program Files\Optuma\Optuma.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\DTN\IQFeed\iqconnect.exe
Once this has been done, close the Windows Defender window, and restart the PC / Laptop to complete the process.
