Right-Click Interface
Overview
To display the right-click interface, open a chart, and right-click once on a blank area of the chart.
There are 5 groups displayed by default:
- Properties
- Actions
- New Items
- Delete
- Apply Tools
The right-click interface will replace the New Items group with the Control points group when a tool is selected. A help group will also appear when a tool is selected. Also, a Levels group is displayed for selected tools that include Levels in the properties, e.g. Fibonacci Retracements.
As you hover over one of the groups listed above, additional options / actions become available.
Properties
The Properties group is a context sensitive window that will display the properties of the item you right-click on. Properties range from colours, bar counts, transparency settings, etc.
These properties can also be seen in the Control Panel displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. However, using the right-click menu allows you to have the panel rolled away, increasing the chart window on your screen.
Actions
The actions group is a context sensitive window that will display the actions of the item you right-click on. Actions range from un-docking a chart to printing options, etc.
These properties can also be seen in the Control Panel displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. However, using the right-click menu allows you to have the panel rolled away, increasing the chart window on your screen.
New Items
The New Item group is displayed when right-clicking on a blank area of the chart. From this window, you can open a New chart, Add a chart to a second window, Overlay 2 charts on a single page or merge 2 or more charts:
<../../charts/chart-overlays-merge-new-window>
Edit Data: When the New Items icon is selected on a price bar or candle it’s possible to edit the values of the bar (important note: if the data history is subsequently downloaded from our servers then the original value will be restored).
Delete
Allows you to delete the item you right-clicked on.
Tools
The tools group is broken up into two sections. The top section allows you to search for any tool available in the program. As you type, a short list of tools matching your criteria is displayed. The second section displays the most recently used tools which you can click on to re-apply to your chart.
Control Points
Control Points are displayed when you right-click on a tool. Control points allow you to manually select a starting point (both price and date) and an end point. This can be a great time saver when applying tools to a chart where you already know the desired end date, etc.
Levels
There are a number of tools in Optuma which plot levels. When you right-click on one of these tools - such as Fibonacci Retracements - then the Level menu item is displayed.
The Levels Editor is used to adjust how these lines are displayed (value, line type, etc). Additionally, levels can be added to / removed from the tool.
Help
When you right-click on a tool, an icon with a Question Mark on it will appear. When you hover your mouse over this icon you will see a quick description of the tool.
If you either left-click on the icon or click on the “More Information” hyperlink in the description box, you will be brought to the Knowledge Base article for this tool.
