Volatility Momentum End
Overview
The Volatility Momentum End (VME) indicator is designed to identify short-term changes in price direction. It works well for trend entries, exits, and trading ranges. The tool was developed by Northington Dahlberg Research and is only available in Optuma as an optional add-on module. Please visit the Tool Store to add to your copy of Optuma.
Signal Interpretation
- “E” below signals that the recent price movement is likely extended, and will likely stop its fall and begin moving laterally, or reverse to higher levels.
- “E” above signals that the recent price movement is likely extended, and will likely stop its rise and begin moving laterally, or reverse to lower levels.
Best Practices
- VME signals provide high probability entry points for trending markets. They work in any timeframe; thus a higher timeframe can identify trend turning points in lower timeframes.
- VME signals provide probabilities for counter trend decisions. Reduce position size when the “E” appears above the candle. Then add to a position when the “E” prints below.
- VME signals are derived from the ND Research Volatility Based Momentum (VBM) tool. The VME signal is generated when short-term volatility extremes are reached.
- VME signals are displayed based on intrabar price action.
To add the tool to your chart, select the tool from the ND Research tool group, and left-click on the chart or indicator on which you wish to add the tool. Optuma will then draw the tool using the default settings.
