Understanding CPU Usage Limits in the Optuma Web App
To ensure fair access to our system and maintain performance for all users, we have implemented CPU usage limits on our servers. This helps balance workload distribution while we gather data during the Beta phase to refine what constitutes “fair use.”
How CPU Usage Limits Work
- Each client is allocated a daily CPU usage quota.
- As tasks are processed, the CPU usage counter increases.
- Once the counter reaches 100%, further tasks cannot be processed until the limit resets.
- The limit resets automatically every 24 hours.
- If you require an urgent reset, our support team can manually reset your CPU usage during support hours.
What Happens When You Hit the Limit?
If you reach 100% CPU usage, the system will no longer function until the limit resets. This means:
- Pages will not load.
- Your watchlist will not update or display.
- No new tasks can be submitted.
- The system does not enter a read-only mode—nothing will be accessible until your CPU limit resets.
What Are Tasks That Use CPU?
Almost everything you do in Optuma’s Web App counts as a task that uses CPU. Tasks include:
- Opening a chart
- Changing a setting
- Setting up a script
- Any action that makes a call to our servers and requires a response
Boards (pages within the Web App) are made up of multiple tasks. The more analysis, chart types, and widgets you have on a board, the more tasks are required to load it. As a result, complex boards will use more CPU time than simpler ones.
A Dynamic System During Beta
During the Beta phase, CPU daily quotas may increase or decrease based on the usage metrics we review. We are actively monitoring real-world usage to determine fair limits, and adjustments may be made to optimize performance for all users. This means your allocated CPU usage may change as we refine the system.
Options If You Hit the Limit
If your CPU usage reaches 100%, you have the following options:
- Wait for the automatic reset at the next cycle.
- Contact support during business hours for a manual reset
Future Enhancements
We are actively monitoring usage patterns during the Beta phase to fine-tune our limits. In the future, we may introduce dynamic scaling, subscription tiers, or additional customization options based on user needs.
