Overview

Optuma is an advanced software package. To ensure basic performance your computer system must meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum Requirements

Item Requirement
CPU Intel Pentium 4-HT 2.8 GHz or AMD equivalent
System Memory 4GB RAM
Hard Drive Space 50MB - 1GB (Depending on exchange data used)
Video Card Nvidia Geforce (Series 9xxx or higher) \ ATi Radeon HD (Series 5xxx or higher). Minimum of 1GB of dedicated memory.
Monitor LCD/CRT capable of displaying at 1024 x 768 (wide screen LCD monitors are highly recommended).
Internet Connection Fixed Line or Wireless Broadband
Operating System Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 (64bit only). Apple users click here.
ARM System Notice Optuma can run on Windows 11 ARM-based systems (such as the latest MS Surface Pro); however, to ensure optimal performance you need to install Optuma v2.3 or later. Use of older versions may result in issues such as random graphics flickering.

The following are recommended specifications for standard use of Optuma. If you are planning on running more than 2 screens, or regularly opening workbooks with more than 1000 codes, or extremely complex scripts, higher specs maybe required to maintain optimal performance. If you have any questions you can contact support@optuma.com for additional guidance.

As new computer hardware is released frequently, the following suggestions are not designed to be a definitive list of systems you must use to run Optuma. They should rather be used as a guide, to assist you in determining the best option for your situation and needs. Variations in specifications, future updates to Optuma, Drivers or Operating Systems may affect how Optuma runs on a system.

Tablet PCs

Tablet PCs were first released to the market in late 2000 and since that time have become increasingly popular as a mobile computing device. A Tablet PC is a general-purpose computer contained in a single panel and is characterised by its use of a touch screen as the main input device (a stylus pen can also be used). Most tablet PCs can be combined with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for even more interface options.

Ultrabooks

Ultrabooks are a new category of notebook computer that seeks to fill the gap between Netbooks and Laptops and are often extremely thin and light weight. Ultrabooks differ from Netbooks by offering more power in the form of faster processors as well as better storage and larger screen sizes. The combination of higher end hardware, with a lighter form factor tends to see Ultrabooks priced significantly higher than most netbooks or full sized laptops.

Laptops

Laptop

Laptop computers, also known as notebooks, are portable computers that you can take with you and use in different environments via a rechargeable battery. They include a screen, keyboard, and a trackpad or trackball, which serves as the mouse. While laptops used to be significantly slower and less capable than desktop computers, advances in technology have enabled laptops to perform nearly as well as their desktop counterparts, however generally include a price premium for the convenience of mobility.

Desktop PCs

Desktop PC

A desktop computer (or desktop PC) is a computer that is designed to stay in a single location and may take the form of a tower or an all-in-one setup. Unlike laptops and other portable devices, desktop computers cannot be powered from an internal battery and therefore must remain connected to a wall outlet. Where lack of mobility is not a problem, the Desktop PC will generally offer the best price to performance ratio. Desktop PCs that include more than one video card can also support up to six display monitors.

  • Parallels - A program that allows you to run a Windows emulation within the Mac OS.
  • Bootcamp - Allows you to setup and switch between two operating systems when starting up the system. One option will be the Mac OS, the other would be Windows 7/8/10.
