Data Streamed from IB: The chart in Optuma differs to the chart in TWS

EXPLANATION

If you are streaming live data from Interactive Brokers into Optuma you may notice that the chart in Optuma differs to the chart that is displayed in Trader Workstation (TWS), i.e. different open, high, low, close values for each bar/candle.

The data that is streamed by IB via their API (application programming interface) into Optuma will include data that is outside of regular trading hours. So if TWS is not configured to include this data, then the chart that is displayed will be different.

SOLUTION

  1. In Trader Workstation, open a chart for the relevant security.

  2. Go to the Edit menu and then select Chart Parameters.

  3. Under Chart Time Options make sure that Show data outside of regular trading hours is selected.

  4. Select Apply then click OK.

The charts in both TWS and Optuma should now appear the same.
